Pastor
Scott Bates is a transplanted Arkansan who came to Mercer Baptist Church in January of 2006. Scott has served the Lord in staff positions of Youth Director, Associate Pastor, Worship Pastor and as a Pastor at various churches in the ABA. He holds a BSE in Social Science from Henderson State University and a Bachelor of Bible from the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock. He has 12 years of experience in full time ministry.
Scott married Esther Davis in 1993 and they both enjoy camping, traveling and raising their two daughters—Miriam (8) and Naomi (7). Esther is a graduate of Henderson State University with a degree in Psychology and currently uses her education and gifts to homeschool their children and assist Scott as they work together to build a life, a home and a church for the glory of God.
